How Shipping Works

If you are unable to drop your milk off at our facility in southwest Michigan, shipping options are available. Simply input your address at check out and get an instant shipping quote for your location. Shipping includes service in 3 directions:

  1. We send you a Shipping Kit containing everything you will need to ship us your frozen milk (shipping box, cooler, gel packs, and prepaid return shipping label) via ground service.
  2. You pack and ship us your frozen breastmilk via overnight service.
  3. We freeze-dry your breastmilk and send the powder back to you via ground service.

Please anticipate approximately 3 weeks from date or purchase to receive your freeze-dried milk. Need your milk done ASAP? Select “expedited shipping” at checkout to receive priority placement in our queue, fast track shipping and cut processing time in half.

Shipping Instructions

Below is everything you need to know in order to send us your frozen stash safely. Please review these instructions carefully upon receiving your Shipping Kit, as they are some steps that must be completed prior to sending. If you notice any damage to the shipping box, cooler or its contents please contact us immediately at help@mothership-milk.com.

Included in the Shipping Kit:

  • Gel packs 
  • Clear bag(s)
  • Insulated cooler 
  • Shipping box
  • Packing foam
  • Prepaid overnight return shipping label 

Things you will need:

  • Packing tape

How to pack your frozen milk:

  1. When you receive your cooler from {m}othership milk, place the gel packs into your freezer. Please ensure each individual gel pod is frozen solid before shipping.
  2. When you are ready to pack your frozen milk*, remove the cooler from the shipping box. Please do not pack your order until just before drop-off at UPS.
  3. Remove cooler lid and line the bottom and sides of the cooler with the frozen gel packs.
  4. Place the clear bag(s) inside the cooler. This bag(s) allows us to reuse the cooler for future orders.
  5. Pack your frozen breastmilk bags into the clear bag(s). Place the bags snugly to help reduce air circulation.
  6. Cover the breastmilk bags with the remaining gel pack(s).
  7. If your breastmilk does not completely fill the cooler, place packing foam on top of gel packs to provide additional insulation. Discard foam if it is not needed.
  8. Close the cooler lid and tape the cooler shut.
  9. Put the cooler into the shipping box. Securely tape shipping box shut.
  10. Affix the new pre-printed shipping label on top of the old label.
  11. Drop box off at UPS ASAP. Try and drop your parcel off close to your UPS store’s “Last Air Shipment Cut-off Time.” To find this information, go to the specific UPS location’s website and they should have their cut-off hours listed under “Hours of Operation.”)

*Parcel must be shipped between Monday-Wednesday to protect against thawing in the event of a delay. Do not ship Thursday or Friday.
